Mentioned this on another thread but WHU's injury issues are well beyind any normal type of reason. This has been going on for decades and there is no logical explanation.

To be fair. It's not G&S's fault that Carroll, Valencia, Zarate and Sakho are all injured is it? You can dig a bit deeper and question the signing of Carroll but that was a long time ago now and they would never have been able to forsee how he would turn out.

I just think having a dig at them for trying to get deals done when three strikers ahave all got injured in a 3 - 4 week period is a bit much.

While the fat man didn't get too many pulses racing with the style of play, given that he got us promoted at his first attempt and established us in the premiership (without a relegation struggle) I don't believe you can call him a disaster - now Zola and Grant are another matter

Re: There's a strange sort of negativity on here
That's really stretching your credibility there dealcanvey. Do other Chairmen announce signings a week ahead through their son on Twitter? No of course not.

Do they then add on the official site from an ITK known as Boleyn Insider on Monday that -
"There have been a number of big names mentioned over the last few days and my understanding is that one way or another the Club will resolve the need to sign another striker within the next few days."

The fact is that fans DO NOT have unreasonable expectations when the Chairman is stoking up that expectation.

You are just being a cunt...

Willtell

'And when the son of the chairman tells us that we will have a striker by today but, we see all the potential deals fall flat is fans having "unreasonable expectations" then is it?'

Did he say that? I'm pretty sure he said 'we hope to have a striker by middle of next week'. Not we will but hope. Hope like the rest of us. If you want to follow what a kid says on twitter then that is up to you but if you want to take what he says out of context then yes you are being unreasonable.

"People's expectations on here are so unrealistic it is unbelievable."

So expecting our owners to have signed a striker when they have known of the dangers of our current predicament for weeks is unrealistic then is it?

And when the son of the chairman tells us that we will have a striker by today but, we see all the potential deals fall flat is fans having "unreasonable expectations" then is it?

By all means call us nicker wetters but you happy clappers don't arf take some beating...

Leroys, well I hope you are right.

Personally though, I don't think they can help themselves, when it comes to the matter of getting a soundbite, even if that happens to include underming a succession of managers, that THEY have employed.

To me that is not professional at all - it's counter productive, ego driven and something that they simply cannot resist doing. The move to the OS imho won't change any of that.

Not really laying this at the current regime's door, I''m talking in general terms about the club.

I've been going to West Ham since the late 60's, and in all that time we have been run the same, a bit fly, a bit 2 bob.

I was suggesting that maybe the new ground will usher in a more professional attitude towards runnign a football club from top to bottom.

Re: There's a strange sort of negativity on here
dealcanvey - the most vocal in 'getting the club to a higher level' rather than just striving to remain a Premiership club, were Sullivan and Gold. Not the fans.

That was the whole point in the move, right?

nychammer 1:22 Wed Aug 26
Re: There's a strange sort of negativity on here
Yeah but moving to the OS as a championship side would be disastrous. It was my fear for this season that last seasons bad form would bleed over, and so it has. I'm hoping this is all a bedding in process with Bilic and a new system and players and everything will click into place, much like the start manure's bad start to last season (by their standard). This is west ham however, and never underestimate the propensity to point gun at foot and pull trigger!

WHU(Exeter) 1:19 Wed Aug 26
Re: There's a strange sort of negativity on here
My expectations aren't unrealistic.

I thought that Sullivan and Gold would continually big themselves up, without any actual noticeable difference in so much as what the club were achieving in comparison to before they arrived.

I also expected them to undermine a succession of managers, and to have no real forward thinking plan, other then 'move to the Olympic Stadium'.

dealcanvey 1:14 Wed Aug 26
Re: There's a strange sort of negativity on here
People's expectations on here are so unrealistic it is unbelievable. Hence all the knickerwetting and moaning. The type of fan that will never be happy. When Sam went I thought things would change on here but after two home defeats everyone is looking for the next scapegoat. Too early to blame Bilic so now people are starting to turn on the owners. They have cleared millions of pounds worth of debt and we are about to move into a 55,000 capacity brand new stadium. That is how far we have moved in the last 6 years. Not good enough for many I am sure but for the realistic west ham fan that is good progress.

I believe them when they say they are working as hard as they can to bring new players in with the budget they have. By the end of the transfer window we will have 2/3 new players and the baying mob will be calmed for a few weeks at least.

If following a mid table Premier league football club is not good enough for you then how about trying city or chelsea?

WHU(Exeter) 1:11 Wed Aug 26
Re: There's a strange sort of negativity on here
Leroys, why?

At this level, a structure like that can be put into place regardless of where we are playing.

Why will moving to the OS suddenly stop the undermining of various managers we've had/will have, which appears to be a systematic approach to how they have ran two football clubs for a period now spanning decades?

LeroysBoots 1:07 Wed Aug 26
Re: There's a strange sort of negativity on here
We actually need a professional structure from top to bottom, I actually think moving to the OS might kick start that process.

Dealcanvey - our League finishing positions are no different than under previous Boards.

That's generally how football teams relative success is measured?

On the plus side though, we now take cup competitions far less seriously.
